Ol Tukai Lodge was opened in June 1996 and lies at the heart of Amboseli National Park approximately 266kms due south of Nairobi. Cottage style accommodation spreads out on either side of the main lodge. The architecture is unobtrusive with lots of wood, local stone and slate.
There are two double rooms especially designed for the disabled and ramps for wheelchairs are the norm. Each room has an uninterrupted view of either the wetlands or Mt. Kilimanjaro, with the occasional dust trail of safari vehicles viewing game in this most beautiful of Kenya's game parks. The crystal clear figure of eight swimming pool, shaded by the occasional acacia tree, has ample sun beds and mattresses available for guest use. Guests are not permitted to swim at night.
Day 1
Early pick from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or a city hotel and transfer to Wilson Airport for the scheduled flight to Amboseli National Park. Upon arrival, you will be met by a guide from the lodge and depart for your first game drive en route to the lodge. Following lunch, there will be an afternoon game drive returning to camp as the sun sets.
Overnight at an Amboseli Camp or Lodge on a full board basis.
Amboseli
One of the most popular parks in Kenya, we think it is a real gem. Forming part of a massive eco-system, the park itself is only 392 sq km and is situated at the foot of Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro. This great mountain forms the backdrop to most photographers’ pictures and on a clear day, the snowy peak of Kibo is seen. Elephants abound in the forest and swamps, feeding on the lush papyrus and other grasses. Cheetah, lion and many hyenas can also be seen on the salt flats or in the forests. Giraffe, zebra and wildebeest are always spotted on the open plains or congregating at the edge of the swamps.
Day 2
Full day game viewing in the park with possible clear views of the highest mountain in Africa,
Mt Kilimanjaro. This is a prefect backdrop to herds of elephant, Cape buffalo, giraffe the many species of plains game that are found here.
Overnight at an Amboseli Camp or Lodge on a full board basis.
Day 3
Following breakfast, there will be a game drive en route to the airstrip for the scheduled flight back to Nairobi. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to a city centre hotel where your safari ends.
